Milestone Captured

I had decided years ago that if I ever got close to my goal weight, I would re-take my bridal photos. We ended up doing our professional bridal/"groomsal" session a year after we were married. Why? Well, we said we'd do it after the wedding because it would be one less thing to do before the wedding. But our schedules got crazy, then winter came, then I gained 40 pounds.

We eventually did our session exactly one year after we were married. I squeezed into my dress. I was so uncomfortable and you could tell. Our photographer did a beautiful job, carefully posing me in he most flattering way possible. But essentially, I was not happy with how the photos turned out.

Fast forward 4 years to our 5th wedding anniversary. I had finally lost the weight. I'd lost a total of 70 pounds. My dress was slightly too big on me, and the timing was perfect. So we decided to retake the pictures. We did a dress reveal (I mean, he's already seen me in my wedding dress, but not at the healthiest I have ever been!) which was fun. We also took some of us together and some of us in different outfits to really show off my success.

It was SO worth it. It was my time to practice my newfound confidence. It was my time to re-brand myself as a healthy person with a healthy attitude. It was such a great experience and a wonderful way to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. And my husband was a such a good sport. Happy 5th Anniversary, babe! xoxo

Here are some of our favorite shots. Photos taken 6-18-2016 by Missy J Photo. Thank you, Missy!
